Thank you so much for your reply Lewis. Yes, you are right. The issue was due to incompatible software versions. 
However I tried with the following sotware combinations.

*Hadoop**
*       *Hbase **
*       *Nutch**
*       *Gora**
*       *Status**
*
hadoop-2.5.2
        1.0.1 (Because they mentioned this version as supported on gora website)
        2.3.1
        6.1
        HBASE_CLIENT_PREFETCH_LIMIT Error
hadoop-2.5.2    hbase-0.98.12-hadoop2
        2.3.1
        6.1
        Working

consequence of your HBase software being too new for the gora-hbase client
api usage.
