Run Selenium tests on OS X?

Has anybody been able to successfully run the example Selenium tests on OS X? Any tips or tricks? I've followed the instructions in the PDF Brett attached to OFBIZ-2116 but Firefox (3.5.5) never starts up and the client eventually times out.
