Here’s my two cents worth on this. As you mentioned “some” I would refrain from uploading large pdf files... I am referring to files with a large quantity of pages... which will require more ram. If it is a high quality layered pdf, I would also suggest flattening it with whatever pdf program you use before uploading. Many pdf programs also offer the option of saving a file into individual pages which I then upload into a folder, making it easier to drag and drop individual pages onto a whiteboard... and as a result making it easier to give presentations / classes etc.... especially if you are adding notes and so on to the whiteboard.
Regarding PPT files... I would also be mindful of power point files that contain audio, dynamic text, animations etc. Save them as PDFs before uploading... as all animations etc are going to be lost when uploading anyway. There are a few additional changes you can make in: /etc/ImageMagick-6/policy.xml which you would have edited when installing OM. I remember having a similar issue a few years back when testing on a free tier on AWS before upgrading. Hope this helps.
