Get count of uncommitted data

Hi All,
        What is the most efficient way to get the count of uncommitted
data?.
Iterating over PhoenixRuntime.getUncommittedDataIterator(con) seems
inefficient as I need the count multiple times.

Is having a separate count variable a good option?
