Building Pivot from source with Maven; @VERSION@

I downloaded the pivot source from trunk and tried to build it, but it 
seems I need to supply a version parameter somehow, as the pom's 
reference @VERSION@ instead of version number. I realise this might be a 
Maven question, but I can't seem to find documentation for this 
anywhere. Please advice :)
