I'm using the usermodel of poi 3.7 to read an Office 2010 Excel workbook. The cell at B8 is merged with neighbor cells C8:H8. This merged cell has a value, say "XYZ" if I look at it in Excel. However, when I query the cellType poi tells me CELL_TYPE_BLANK. The same goes for the other cells in the merged range. Bottomline is I haven't been able to retrieve the "XYZ" value of this particular cell.
I have tried many things. Unprotecting the workbook. Unmerging the cells. Removing all kinds of formatting etc. etc. My code works fine for other cells in the same workbook, but for some reason not for this cell. "Works fine" means I'm able to query the cellType and get the value with e.g. getNumericCellValue, getStringCellValue etc. But not for cell B8. What kind of thing could possibly cause this behavior.. ? Attributes / properties / formatting / protection / my code / ....
