You can simply download or install Sqoop1. It's purely a client application.

It's probably easier installed via BigTop (http://bigtop.apache.org/) or
from one of the many hadoop distributors.

It sounds like there may be some confusion as to which version of Sqoop
you'd like to use. Check out
http://ingest.tips/2014/10/21/sqoop-1-or-sqoop-2/ for some clarity there.
