Sqoop 1 YARN dependency

I’ve been looking through Sqoop to see if there are any dependencies on YARN. 
It seems that Sqoop 1 only submits through MapReduce and has no direct 
dependency on ResourceManager or NodeManagers. Is that assumption true?
