Chinese Japanese post problem struts

Hi All,
 I have problems in updating the Chinese and Japanese characters using
Struts 1.0.2.
 
My Scenario is: 
 
            I have a drop down list to select the language.
            
            When I select Chinese language, I populate some description in
Chinese format in a text area.
            
            When I modify and save the Chinese description, the values are
getting lost. 
 
 
Any idea on how to resolve this??
 
My Environment Settings are:
 
            Framework : Struts 1.0.2
            O.S : Solaris
            Web Server : iPlanet Web Server 6.0 /SP4
