set the onclick attribute to "bCancel=true;" The Cancel tag does this automatically and it causes the server side validation to be skipped as well, but it sets the name to Constants.CANCEL_PROPERTY. You could create your own custom version by extending CancelTag and overriding the prepareName() method.
