Lakshmi, you sound like you have never used struts before. I suggest you build a small sample app to help you see how struts works. A really good book on Struts is: "Struts Survival Guide: Basics to best practices" by Srikanth Shenoy with Nithin Mallya. Its a small, really concise book and it takes you through 90% of the stuff you would need to with Struts. Has nice diagrams explaining the flow in a struts app etc. Also, in the struts distribution, there is a sample app calles struts-examples.war which would help you get started.
