Berating us may not help. The first thing I'd try is using the attribute properly: http://www.w3schools.com/TAGS/att_input_readonly.asp Then check to make sure it's rendered properly. If it's rendering properly then post to an HTML/browser-oriented group/list/forum. If it isn't being rendered properly then file a JIRA.
