However, if the message is routed through Synapse, the second mime
part is simply missing, but the message still contains the reference
to this part. I've no idea what causes this behaviour.
Can you share your synapse.xml? If you do not want to make it public,
you can send it directly to me.
We have absolutely no idea what could be wrong. We tried different
configurations, without logging, with logging, disabled
mtom-optimizations, used different client libraries etc. Nothing helped.
Have you looked at sample #51 ?

If you do not turn on optimization, the binary attachments are not sent:
e.g. <address uri="http://localhost:9000/soap/MTOMSwASampleService";
optimize="mtom"/>
