I do not think this is the issue, this would just slow things down. The Problem we have is that the calls never return. Our apps do not need reverse look up, so we are getting this set up to see if it an issue for Synapse.

The 10 second delays are usually caused by reverse lookups when accepting connections, since we try to get the hostname for logging.
