Cloudera doesn't support the timeline server and it doesn't get updated
like other hadoop components despite there being upstream changes. There
are some bugs that prevent tez from properly working with the cdh timeline
server version. I'm not sure what the bug/lack of features are but my
solution to this was to run a timeline server using the vanilla hadoop
jars. I hope this helps.
