This is a volunteer team. People have jobs, families, vacations or just
get ill. And the beta2 has just been released so we should wait for bug
reports (btw no word whether YOU got it running and all your own tests
passing?). And then we'd need to make regression tests against 2.9 to
see if there are differences, and possibly need another beta.

Awesome. Thank you so much.
Any idea when we will have the GA release? 3.0.0-BETA was in Dec 2023
and 3.0.0-BETA2 was in July 2024. Just wondering if there is a planned
target date for the release.
Thanks

The Apache Tika project is pleased to announce the release of Apache
Tika 3.0.0-BETA2. The release contents have been pushed out to the
main
Apache release site and to the Maven Central sync.
Apache Tika is a toolkit for detecting and extracting metadata and
structured text content from various documents using existing parser
libraries.
Apache Tika 3.0.0-BETA2 includes numerous bug fixes and dependency
upgrades.
The biggest change in the 3.x branch is that it requires >= Java 11.
Details can be found in the changes file:

Apache Tika is available on the download page:

Apache Tika will be available shortly in binary form or for use using

NOTE: This release requires Java 11. We plan to support the
2.x branch (which requires Java 8) for six months after the
release of 3.0.0.
