The virtual machine that you are going to capture needs to be running when you start the capture process. i.e. You need to be able to ssh to it as root from the management node because vcld will ssh in to it to do some prep work before capturing it. > 2 - what are the public and private IP's that I should give for the VM > profile info ?? the same as the host ?? VCL requires all VMs that will be provisioned to be added under Manage Computers->Edit Computer Information before they can be provisioned. There is certain information it needs to know about them to be able to provision them. That information includes a public and a private IP address. Each VM must have a fixed private address. The public address can be dynamic. (If you are using dynamic DHCP to assign the public addresses, you can enter anything for the public address, such as 1.1.1.1, when adding it under the Edit Computer Information part of the site.) The private addresses need to be assigned by DHCP. You cannot use dynamic DHCP on the private side. Each VM must always be assigned the same address. The VM public and private addresses definitely should *not* be the same as the host addresses. > 3 - does the content of /etc/hosts need to be changed automatically or > manually by me ?? You need to manually add the entries to /etc/hosts. After you have added the VMs to VCL, you can go to Manage Computers->Computer Utilities, select the VMs you've added, and use the "For selected computers, generate computer data for:" option at the bottom of the page (selecting "/etc/hosts" from the drop down box) to get the data that you can copy/paste into the /etc/hosts file. (You can do a similar step, but select "dhcpd" from the drop down box to get the data to copy/paste to the dhcpd.conf file for step #2 above).
