Yes, for current 2.3.x release the private addresses need to be in /etc/hosts on the management nodes. The upcoming release will start using the private IP address from the database instead of the short computer name. The is needed for openstack support and will remove the need to have info in /etc/hosts Also, I think Andy is working on having support for ESX 5.5?
