I am using the 1.4 version of the tool. I am trying to access the RuntimeInstance from a subclass of VelocityViewServlet.

What version of VelocityTools are you using? And, in what class are you trying to do this retrieval? A subclass of VelocityViewServlet? A tool class? A template? An "action" class in a framework?
