May I please get a code review for an upgrade to git. git is a source code manager like mercurial. Several projects use it around here. X11 for one.

The package manifest looks completely different because it's based on the sample-manifest and then pkgfmt'd. I got tired of manually updating the file but I did go through it to ensure correctness. Tests pass and Alan Coopersmith has given it a spin and no problems so far.
