I'll add .localignore to the .hgignore file as the placeholder. Then the
user can do what they want to create and use it.
Check to make sure that .localignore can't simply ignore itself. If that's
the case, that's the more user-friendly option.

Danek

I already know that it can. Okay, instead I am adding some comments to the .hgignore file to explain to the user what to do.

Here is the info:
7119950 Userland gate needs a .hgignore file.

Unfortunately, Jiri has pointed out that the line designed to ignore the source directories:

^components/.*/.*-.*/

unfortunately also prunes a number of other components that have subdirectories:

automake/automake-1.10/
automake/automake-1.11.2/
automake/automake-1.9.6/
foomatic/db-engine/
open-fabrics/infiniband-diags/
open-fabrics/rds-tools/
openssl/openssl-0.9.8-fips-140/
openssl/openssl-1.0.0/
openssl/openssl-fips/
perl_modules/net-ssleay/
perl_modules/xml-parser/
perl_modules/xml-simple/
php-5_2/APC-zts/
php-5_2/idn-zts/
php-5_2/memcache-zts/
php-5_2/php-cgi/
php-5_2/php-nsapi/
php-5_2/php-sapi/
php-5_2/suhosin-zts/
php-5_2/tcpwrap-zts/
php-5_2/xdebug-zts/
php-5_3/APC-zts/
php-5_3/idn-zts/
php-5_3/memcache-zts/
php-5_3/php-cgi/
php-5_3/php-nsapi/
php-5_3/php-sapi/
php-5_3/suhosin-zts/
php-5_3/tcpwrap-zts/
php-5_3/xdebug-zts/
visual-panels/ant-rules/
visual-panels/make-rules/

Looking at the workspace, I don't see any way to differentiate the source directory from these. So, I guess I'll have to eliminate this otherwise very useful line. It isn't too bad, since most of generally work on only one component at a time and that is what the local ignore file we discussed before would be good for.
