Will ActiveMQ support AMQP?

Are there plans to make ActiveMQ AMQP compliant?  If so when will ActiveMQ be
compliant with AMQP? 
I heard an effort to make ActiveMQ compliant was started but then dropped.
Has this effort been restarted?
