Many, many software systems use ActiveMQ 5.x without experiencing hanging consumers, so the presumption is that a recent version of 5.x will not have this problem. But of you download it and find that you're still having this problem, post a question here (with a detailed description of the behavior you're seeing, not just a sentence) and we'd be happy to help troubleshoot it.
