Hi,

We're in the process of evaluating AppFuse for our J2EE projects and since
many of our clients are currently on JDK 1.4, I have the following
questions:

1) Does AppFuse 2.0 support JDK 1.4 at runtime? Is the JDK 5 only a
requirement during build time, or is it also a runtime requirement?

No. I think it's probably possible to make it work using Retroweaver,
but I don't think it's worth our efforts to try and maintain backwards
compatibility.

If someone wants to volunteer to support AppFuse 2 with 1.4-compatible
binaries, that'd be great.

Applications written with JDK 1.4 should run just fine on JDK 5. Why
can't your clients upgrade? Is it because of WebSphere? If so, you
might show them the following:

2) Which latest version of AppFuse would you recommend for applications that
are running on JDK 1.4?

Version 1.9.4 is the best one to use.

Matt

Thanks,
Padma
