I'm the author of candy4appfuse plug-in and I can confirm that it is not being maintained :-(. You can try q4e (http://code.google.com/p/q4e/) which provides generic maven support in eclipse (including creating projects from archetypes). Q4e is being provisioned at the eclipse foundation with the name of Eclipse IAM.
