Being a do-it-yourself community its not the best place to ask, but perhaps it is the best place to ask since one way or another most have been exposed to various implementations....
I am looking for any takes/recommendations on CMS platforms and Event/Class Management platforms and connecting the two. So far the options are: CMS: Magnolia, Alfresco & Drupal + a Java Service Layer and Event Management Product X with good Web Services API I have some suggesting that Drupal will work for the lightweight CMS stuff and then just make modules to call out to your services for the heavier lifting. I guess two questions. Any other products we should look at in the mid-teir (not Teamsite, etc) for CMS? We will need the integration platform to create custom inward facing apps that integrate with the website. We could hand-roll a class/event management system, unless someone has some experience with a product that gives a lot of features out of the box and plays nice with other web services.
