Yep, you need to add the Archiva proxy/managed repo in your settings.xml either as a <mirror> or as a <repository> in a <profile>. You would also need to put the necessary Archiva credentials in the <servers> section but make sure that the <id> matches the <id> of your <mirror> or <repository>.
