Currently, using stereotypes is as a good a way as any. But we could use better tool support here. Stronger ties of presentation characteristics to stereotypes would help across the board. Using different colors or drawing styles/shapes for classes/interfaces with applied stereotypes would make it easier to spot things of different types on the diagrams. Similarly using different fonts or faces or colors for text items (attributes, operations, etc) with applied stereotypes would make them easier to identify. I think presentation options for stereotyped elements has been requested in the past, but have a look at the bug database and see if it covers what you're interested in.
