If you are using a Mac then I have seen reports of something similar
when closing the application and the system prompts you if you want to
save before closing. Macs have a special mechanism for trapping events
like close and handling them prioperly that we have only just got
working in our latest beta. Please move onto our latest beta release.

Please let us know if Mac was the cause as I'd like to know if we have
finally resolved this.

The only other time I've seen this is if ArgoUML is low on allocated
memory. When your project is saved its actually saved into a zip file.
If your rename a .zargo file to .zip you can unzip the contents and
see it is made up of several individual XML files.

The process of zipping is by using standard JVM classes that are quite
hungry for memory. If your memory is low before you start to save then
it may well be drained entirely while the save does the zip and so the
zip file is corrupted.

Unfortunately thats an error of robustness that is difficult for us to
address. Once your JVM has actually run out of resource its difficult
for a system to recover.

We have adddress this by the installers, batch files and shell scripts
allocating what we considered would be enough memory.

If you start ArgoUML from the jar file though you will just get the
default for your platform. You can override this as suggested by the
FAQ here - http://argouml.tigris.org/faqs/users.html#xmx

Another way around all this is to save in .uml format instead of .zargo

.uml contains the same xml contents all wrapped together around a root
tag. There is no problem with zipping as its never done.

Regards

Bob.
