look like it's been touched in 8 to 9 months but the README still says that
it's under development and the API may change. Has anyone used this code in
another project or application? Are there any other avalon caching options? I
recall someone mentioning an Avalon JCS implemntation.

Seriously though, what needs done?
First up will be ECM and dependencies (list at http://cvs.apache.org/builds/gump/latest/excalibur-component.html), then fortress and dependencies (list at http://cvs.apache.org/builds/gump/latest/excalibur-fortress.html), then other stuff. So simply put the stuff that needs doing first is all the stuff that needs doing for those releases. IOW, the little list we wrote up earlier applies.
