Fortress. How to disable Intrument?

Hello,
 
I am using Fortress in a Tomcat webapp and I get sometimes strange socket errors. 
Additionally a servlet should normally not create additional background threads. If I 
interpret the funtionality of the instrument manager right, it also listenes to an 
additional port, which I have to supress for security reasons. So, is there any way to 
"eliminate" the instrument for now?
