Has anyone played with an HTTP or Proxy server implementation in merlin. I'm brand new to the tool and would appreciate any comments you feel to make - flames of otherwise.
The whole reason I got started with Avalon is that, recently at a paying client, I had a problem with a J2EE application being developed. I needed to use the 'available tools' at the client to trace the behavior. Since I couldn't use tcpdump (only one person in the entire corporation is authorized to use it) and since I was dealing with non-SSL connections I decided to set up a proxy server to log the results. Unfortunately the only available beast (again the client has draconian rules about getting software authorized) was JMeter's HttpProxyServer doodad. I had to hack it to log both the full request and full response, but I was able to get what I needed. It was, however, quite a pain in the butt. I started looking for a Java based Http Proxy and found little of any use. I explored the Tammi and Avalon frameworks and decided that I liked Avalon better. Though Tammi seemed a more direct route, the architecture of Avalon seemed a better thing to deal with if this was going to be anything more than a hack. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
