The way I see it, embedded kernels are a non issue, they're are done, already supported, and merlin is better because of it - not just because of the added feature, but because of the added refactoring, design and code maturity required to support it. The next step which I'm pushing for is the dynamic loading and unloading of Blocks from a running kernel ( think Tomcat, loading/unloading webapps ). Imagine, if this is worked out, you could write something like Tomcat from scratch in a fraction of the time it took the original.
