Sounds familiar.  I have several similar applications based on Avalon.  One
is running Fortress and uses WebStart to launch.

JingDAO: a simple DAO Manager for Avalon or PicoContainer designed by yours
truly.  In the middle of a release right now (0.6.5), so you might want to
pull from CVS:  http://jingdao.sf.net

GUI App: an Avalon-friendly GUI framework developed by Berin.  Think you'd
have to get this from CVS too:
