More likely, you will use something like JDO or Hibernate for the "Data Management". Is this a weakness in Avalon? IMHO, it is an enormous strength, as it doesn't tie me down to a "brain dead" data model (such as Entity Beans). Avalon is all about "Separation of Concerns", = each component does one thing and does it good, "Inversion of Control", = a pattern to increase re-use and security. Good luck with your evaluation.
