Is there a replacement for ServiceManager/Serviceable that would allow me to resolve a service by ServiceDescriptor? Or perhaps some other mechanism entirely?
Take a look at the api and impl in the finder facility. This may be just the sort of thing your looking for. It's not final code so be ready to handle changes - but it is dealing with dynamic discovery and could easily be extended to deal with discovery via a ServiceDescriptor.
