This is probably related to that there is no reference to the component, and that is detected by Merlin's automatic clean-up (opposed to 100% reliance on explicit calls to sm.release() ). This is an advanced feature to avoid memory leaks, but can be disabled, in which case it is absolutely necessary that sm.release() is called, or serious memory leak will occur.
