We do not see the need for waiting for OOo software updates

We seeit working in this way-

Citation styles will be defined in Citation Style Language files (CSL).
The Bibliographic project will develop the CSL files for several of the most
used styles.
CSL files will be moderately easy for users to write or modify for their own
style requirements.
We will maintain a web site where users can upload their CSL files.
People needing a different style will be able to browse the style collection
and load a new CSL file and use it.
(This is how Endnote works now there web site has many hundreds of style
definition files for the user to download.)

Hopefully this user driven model will remove the need for Bruce and I to
spend the rest of lives coding CSL files for obscure journals.

regards

David
