Hi VM component is an extension of the SEDA component so you can make use of all the options SEDA component provides while using the VM component.
In your case you could make use of "blockWhenFull" or "waitForTaskToComplete" options [1] so that producers can't run faster than your VM consumer. And on JMX you could also make use of the "purgeQueue" operation provided VM/SEDA endpoints.
