Thanks for the tip!
Didn't know you could use all the file parameters on an ftp endpoint (must
have read over that),but it makes sense and I can already see lots of
possibilities.

My unittests are working fine with this: from("
ftp://localhost/?username=test&recursive=true&maxDepth=2&include=.*.xml<ftp://localhost/?username=bullmeister_tom&recursive=true&maxDepth=2&include=.*.xml>
")
