Ivan, Combining Primary and Secondary storage into the same Bond / VLAN is perfectly OK. The trick is you need to apply an IP to each XenServer and add the VLAN tag. When you configure the 'storage' network in CloudStack you must leave the VLAN blank. The Storage network is only used by the SSVM when it accesses Secondary Storage, and as you have applied the VLAN Tag on the Hypervisor, there is no need for it to be applied to the SSVM Storage Interface. The HyperVisors also directly access Secondary Storage when deploying VMs from new Templates as they mount it to copy the Template from Secondary to Primary - the SSVM does not get involved in this process.

Also primary storage and secondary storage are presented through the same ip address could this cause any issues ? And finally hypervisor layer should or shouldn't be able to contact storage layer ? I read somewhere that they shouldn't communicate. BTW we had a taste ot the new cloudstack with new features of xen 6.2 it rocks Great job Cheers Need Enterprise Grade Support for Apache CloudStack?
