Hello Andrei, This was discussed/implemented in https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/CLOUDSTACK-5863 As far as I know this is a qcow2 only thing, though I see Wido chipping in as well, though it's not clear if RBD is supported just as well (cc-ing Wido).
