Thanks Bobby for sharing the test results.
I've uploaded the new systemvmtemplates that can be optionally be consumed from: http://packages.shapeblue.com/systemvmtemplate/4.6/new/ In upcoming 4.9 release notes, we'll include information on how to upgrade etc. Regards. ________________________________ From: Boris Stoyanov <boris.stoya...@shapeblue.com> Sent: 21 December 2016 16:11:47 To: users@cloudstack.apache.org Subject: Re: [DISCUSS] Optional new SystemVM Template upgrade for 4.9 LTS release Hi Franz, Thanks for bringing this up, I just had a talk with one of our engineers and he doesn’t think that is being fixed. As I mentioned we’re planning to execute more excessive testing of the VR and Networking by the end of the week so we’ll probably verify confirm that issue. In the meantime could you please raise defects about those issues in the community JIRA so that there’s visibility and people could try to reproduce as well. I’ve covered the following paths: 4.3 - 4.9.1 -XenServer 6.2 Advanced and Basic zone setup 4.5.2.2 - 4.9.1 -KVM Cenot OS 6.8 Advanced and Basic zone setup -KVM Cenot OS 7.2 Advanced and Basic zone setup -XenServer 6.5SP1 Advanced and Basic zone setup -VMWare 5.5u3 Advanced and Basic zone setup 4.6.2 - 4.9.1 -VMWare 5.5u3 Advanced and Basic zone setup Using the new system vm template I was able to do basic VR lifecycle operations like create/destroy network and vm. We’re planning to do additional round of tests on the new vm and more deep networking related tests by the end of the week, but for now it looks good for all the hypervisors. Since last one year, there have been several packages updates especially security updates published for Debian Wheezy 7 (which is what is our base for systemvmtemplate). In our efforts for releasing a high quality LTS (4.9.1.0) release, we've had discussions on security@ regarding developing and publishing a new systemvm template which should be compatible for ACS 4.6+ releases, while be optional for users. In our release notes, we would mention about this, installation/upgrade steps and noting that this is recommended for users but not mandatory. Thoughts, questions? Seems like a good thing to do. A updated SSVM template is really needed due to various updates. For the template to work on master (4.10+), the systemvmtemplate has an additional package (compared to 4.6 based systemvmtemplate) `qemu-guest-agent` from CLOUDSTACK-8715, and my local tests show that this does not break any. Great! Qemu Guest Agent is nice :) I've built and published the template at following location which should be available till end of the year. Please help testing these updated templates: http://188.166.197.146/49lts Regards. rohit.ya...@shapeblue.com<mailto:rohit.ya...@shapeblue.com><mailto:rohit.ya...@shapeblue.com> www.shapeblue.com<http://www.shapeblue.com/><http://www.shapeblue.com/> 53 Chandos Place, Covent Garden, London WC2N 4HSUK @shapeblue
