I've found when a pipeline consists of a single "map:read" element, if a non-XML resource is requested in the "src" attribute via the "cocoon" protocol, it is served as "text/xml", even when the "map:read" "mime-type" attribute is set to something else. This is not the case when the "map:read" resource is retrieved via "http"; resources are served with the appropriate media-type (as determined by the servlet engine I believe), or as specified by the "mime-type" attribute.
