Dear All,

This concerns the Available Cocoon Blocks at http://cocoon.apache.org/2.2/blocks/

As I understand it, these are NOT included in the core blocks. Is this correct?

yes

Would this imply that whenever one decides to use for instance flow and cforms in a given block, a dependency on these two blocks must be explicitly stated in the given block's pom.xml?

yes

After creating a test block (following he guideline at http://cocoon.apache.org/2.2/1159_1_1.html), it appears that an dependency on flow in fact is already included in the pom.xml, but to use cforms, one apparently has to state this explicitly. Would that not contradict the earlier observation above?

Adding cocoon-core as a dependency does not include any of the blocks automatically to your custom block. The archetype that you used created a pom file that also adds the cocoon-template and the cocoon-flowscript block as dependencies in order to demonstrate their usage.
