Well, not that Geoid has that high a level: it is just a wrapper around
WMS and WFS protocols, though I've found it rather useful to lessen the
complexity and setting up an ad-hoc caching.
Sorry for the lack of publicity, but the old website was built of Apache
Forrest, and when cocoondev.org changed to Daisy CMS it was
discontinued... it took some time to convert the website to Daisy CMS,
and then I decided to port the software to C2.2.
I have been also thinking of (or mainly having crazy ideas of) somehow
integrating content management system into this all in order to build a
"GeoERP". Misleading name, I know, but it demonstrates the idea of
getting the whole process structure under the same umbrella. You know
acquiring the geoData, administrating and archiving it, processing it,
refining it and at the last stage, making it available and useful for
the endusers. I hope I don't sound to be entirely out of my mind.
Getting my ideas inside a single mail message isn't my strongest point.
A complex endeavor indeed: take a look at ESRI ArcGIS Server as an
example of such a comprehensive architecture.
Currently I'm toying with the idea of executing geographic process via
WPS under the GeoServer and GeoTools projects.
