Hi Nick, Daffodil does not currently support Scala 2.12, and is not currently on the road map. Though, this is primarily because we just haven't had demand for it as of yet. This is definitely something we want to do at some point. If this is blocking usage of Daffodil (and is sounds like it may be?) we can certainly look at bumping up its priority.
Also, if you have Scala development experience and would like to take a stab at making the fixes yourself, we would be more than happy to give guidance and lend a hand. As you pointed out, it probably is mostly just a bunch of minor fixes. If there's interest, the Daffodil Code Contributor Workflow [1] has all the necessary steps to get started making contributions. The bug to upgrade to Scala 2.12 is tracked as DAFFODIL-1652 [2].
