What exact information did you find in the XML?

Normally, the only information a form has about its parent form is the
master/detail field list - nothing else. Those should be ignored when
there is no parent form (i.e. the form actually isn't a sub form).

So, I'd be interested in how the error message looked like, and what you
found in the XML.
