Schema Customization

I'm coming from a Sun One LDAP environment and was wondering if there 
was a way to supplement the schema similar to the way their LDAP does.

In Sun One creating a custom schema definition can be done by adding the 
schema definition to and LDIF and restarting the directory.  Is there a 
similar way to do this in ApacheDS?
