A live image is very handy and useful for emergeny situations, especially because HAMMER1 isn't support anywhere else. It's also a good way to test new hardware and see how the driver situation is and start optimizing the boot process by feeling the pain of a livecd seek wait or slow usb disk. It's also of course useful as a live dfly environment you can pop in and use for all kinds of things other than what I head been thinking.
